Nitin Gadkari said this to Musk
Nitin Gadkari told Elon Musk that if he would set up a manufacturing unit for Tesla vehicles in India as well, then only he would get marketing discounts and benefits in India. He told that India’s automobile industry is worth 7.5 lakh crores and he wants India to become the number 1 manufacturing hub. Nitin Gadkari said that the automobile industry pays maximum GST to the government. Not only this, this sector has provided employment to 4 crore people of the country.
Nitin Gadkari said that it is the effort of the government to increase the number of electric vehicles in the country, so that all necessary steps are being taken. The government is trying to increase the manufacturing of EVs in the country. The environment has been prepared for the manufacture of electric vehicles in the country and therefore the government wants that instead of importing Tesla cars from China, they should be manufactured in India. India is a big market, so there are huge possibilities for these companies.
