Suryakumar Yadav’s form in ODIs is very bad. He returned to the pavilion without opening an account in three ODIs against Australia. This happened to him for the first time in his career
Suryakumar Yadav became a golden duck in all three matches in the ODI series against Australia. Suryakumar Yadav is not the only Indian player who has been dismissed for zero. Before him, five more players have done this unwanted work, in which the name of veteran batsman like Sachin Tendulkar is also included.
There have been six such players in India’s cricket history who were dismissed without opening three consecutive times in the ODI format. Suryakumar is the new name included in this list.
India’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar is also not untouched by this record. In the year 1994, Master Blast was dismissed for zero in three consecutive ODIs. In this one match was against Sri Lanka and two matches were against West Indies.
Suryakumar Yadav’s record is somewhat unique. This batsman has not only scored a hat-trick of ducks but has scored a hat-trick of golden ducks. Surya was dismissed on the very first ball in all three matches of the ODI series against Australia. For the first time this has happened with an Indian batsman.
In the year 2017, Jasprit Bumrah ducked during the match against West Indies. After this, in the year 2019, he returned without opening an account in the first two matches of the ODI series against Australia.
In the year 2010, Ishant Sharma was a part of the ODI series against New Zealand. In the last match of the series, he was bowled by Perera. And after that he played against the West Indies where he failed to open the account in the first two matches.
In the 2003 TVS Cup match, India faced Australia, in this match Zaheer Khan was bowled by Ian Hervey. After this he went on a tour of Pakistan where he could not open the account even in the first two matches of the ODI series.
Former India captain Anil Kumble has also been dismissed for zero thrice in the year 1996. He was dismissed for 0 consecutively in the first two ODIs against England and then when he landed in the match against Australia, he could not open the account in the first match there as well.
