Cricket returned to Pakistan after years and the PCB has also hosted in a safe environment in the last few years. In this sequence, the New Zealand team reached Pakistan to play a 3-match ODI series. But before the first match starts, the New Zealand Cricket Board was not satisfied with the safety of its players and has canceled the series.
It is learned that following an increase in the threat level of the New Zealand government to Pakistan and following advice from NZC security advisors at ground level, it has been decided that the Kiwis will not continue the tour. Now arrangements are being made to leave the team. Sharing this information, PCB wrote on Twitter
‘This morning the New Zealand Cricket Board informed us that they have been alerted to the security arrangements. Because of this they have decided to postpone the series. The PCB and the Government of Pakistan had made elaborate security arrangements for all the visiting teams.
NZ board did not agree even after talking to PM Imran Khan
When the New Zealand Cricket Board felt the threat in Pakistan, the country’s Prime Minister Imran Khan also tried to persuade the board, but things could not be done. The press release issued by PCB states that,
“The Prime Minister of Pakistan spoke personally to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed him that we have the best intelligence system in the world and that no security threats of any kind exist to the visiting team.”

In the year 2008, there was a terrorist attack on the players of Sri Lanka cricket team in Pakistan and somehow the players were safely transported to their country. After which cricket was not played on the soil of Pakistan for a long time. Test cricket made a comeback in 2019 after almost 10 years. But now this step taken by New Zealand can increase the problems of PCB.
