Sangeeta has sung over 200 film songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages for musicians including AR Rahman, Jacques Bijoy and Kaithaparam Damodaran Namboothiri.
Singer Sangeeta Sajith, who has sung over 200 film songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages ,Sangeetha Sajith, He died on Sunday, 22 May in Thiruvananthapuram. She was 46 years old and was reportedly suffering from kidney-related ailments. Many veterans including the Chief Minister of Kerala have condoled his sudden demise. The memory and impression of him and his songs will remain in the hearts of the people. He is not with us today but people will always remember the songs sung by him.
Playback singer Sangeeta Sajith passes away
Sangeeta, who hails from Kerala, made her Tamil playback singing debut with SA Chandrasekhar’s 1992 film ‘Nalaiya Therapu’. His song ‘Thannerai Kadhalikum’, composed by Ustad AR Rahman for Prabhu Deva’s film ‘Mr Romeo’, was very popular in the mid-1990s. He has lent his voice to several melodious Malayalam songs such as ‘Ambili Poovattam Ponnaruli’ composed through Kaithaparam Damodaran Namboothiri for the 1998 Malayalam film ‘Ennu Swantham Jankikutty’. The 2007 film Rakkipattu, ‘Alare Govinda’ for Mohanlal’s Kakkakuyil (2001), and ‘Odthandil Thalam Kottam’ for Mammootty’s Pazhassi Raja (2009). She was active in the industry till last year, when she sang the theme song of Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘Kuruthi’, which was composed by Jacques Bijoy. He also sang the song ‘Thalam Poyi’ for director Sachi’s Ayyappanam Koshiyum in 2020.
Jake Bejoy paid his tribute to Sangeeta on Facebook, mentioning two songs he sang for her. In another post, she shared the link of the song ‘Thalam Poyi’ together and said, “You were always so lovely and wonderful. It was a privilege for me to be able to work with you on this track. At the same time, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and veteran singer KS Chitra have also condoled the death of Sangeeta.
The body will be cremated on Sunday afternoon
A report in the New Indian Express said that late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa once presented a gold chain to Sangeeta when she sang the song ‘Gyan Pajathai Pizhinthu’ by KB Sundarbal. A native of Kottayam, Sangeeta had been settled in Chennai for a long time. She has left behind a daughter and two siblings. His body will be cremated at Shantikavadam in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday afternoon.
