Governments ranging from the common man to the death of Corona are also worried. Now due to Corona, the impact of the lockdown in many states has started showing on the oil companies as well. According to the data of the government oil companies, the sale of petrol has become the lowest since August 2020. According to the figures of companies, the sale of petrol in April has come down to only 21.4 lakh tonnes. In April last year, petrol sales were 8.72 lakh tonnes.
In fact, due to the increasing cases of Corona, a lockdown has been imposed in many states of the country. There are many complete lockdowns then some weekends and partial closures. Due to which the movement has stopped, economic activities have come to a standstill. Because of this, the total demand for fuel in April 2021 has been seven percent less than in April 2019.
Restrain the pace of the economy!
The way the speed of the corona is increasing, if the Alam remains the same, then the pace of the economy will surely stop. In fact, the most important source of income of the central and state governments is the tax on petrol and diesel. If the demand for petrol continues to decrease in this way, then its effect will start to be seen on the government treasury. The sale of petroleum products is important for both the central and state governments. But if the situation worsens, the government’s concern with oil companies may also increase.
Why the demand is decreasing
According to the petroleum companies, the other web of Corona has created panic in the country. Due to this, even where lockdown has not been done, people are not leaving the house out of fear. At the same time, economic activities have come to a standstill due to restrictions in many states. Due to which the decline in demand for petroleum fuel has been seen. In April this year, petrol sales were down 6.3 percent compared to March and 4.1 percent less than in April 2019.
Diesel sales are also affected
Along with petrol, the sale of diesel is also decreasing. According to the data, the total sales of diesel in April 2021 was 50.9 lakh tonnes, which is 1.7 percent less than the previous month and 9.9 percent less than in April 2019. In April 2020, diesel sales were 28.40 lakh tonnes. Apart from petrol and diesel, there is also a decrease in the demand for air fuel i.e. ATF. Its sales in April 2021 stood at 3.77 lakh tonnes. This is 11.5 percent less than March this year and 39.1 percent less than April 2019.
