In fact, this is happening for the first time in history when such a torch relay is being taken out before the Chess Olympiad.

Till now such a sight was seen only in the Olympic Games, but this time the International Chess Body has started it in Chess Olympiad as well. On this occasion, PM Modi said that for the first time India is organizing this event. We are proud that the game of chess is leaving its mark in the whole world after coming out of its birthplace. The PM said that today chess has again returned to its birthplace. This year India is hosting the 44th Chess Olympiad.

torch will pass through 75 cities
PM congratulated all the players who took part in the Olympiad. On this occasion, Gold Medalist Koneru Humpy of 2020 Chess Olympiad also played chess with PM. India is celebrating the 75th year of its independence in the form of Amrit Mahotsav.

That is why the torch relay started from Delhi will pass through 75 cities of the country. On this historic occasion, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that more than 2 thousand players from 188 countries will participate in this Olympiad. The torch will reach Mahabalipuram on July 27 and then the next day, the event will begin at the same place. The Olympiad will run till August 10.
