Actually, in this film the story of Ponniyin Selvan, son of Kaveri river becoming one of the greatest rulers of Indian history, Rajaraja Chola has been filmed on screen. It is being told that this Mani Ratnam film has been made in a budget of 500 crores which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
