RCB vs PBKS IPL 2022: Punjab had easily defeated Bangalore by scoring more than 200 runs in their very first match in the tournament.
Punjab Kings registered a thumping win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, giving great strength to their hopes of reaching the IPL 2022 playoffs. At the Brabourne Stadium, Punjab gave a big blow to Bangalore, who had reached the playoffs, and defeated them by a huge margin of 54 runs. Punjab did not give Bangalore a chance to recover with the bang of Jonny Bairstow in the beginning and then Liam Livingston also did a lot of washing up to take Punjab to a mammoth score of 209 runs for 9 wickets. In response, like many matches of this season, once again Bangalore’s batting was badly shattered and the team could score only 155 runs in 20 overs. With this victory, not only did Punjab get 2 important points, but its net run rate also improved tremendously, which will be very useful in the end.
About one and a half months ago, both the teams played their first match against each other in this season and in that Bangalore scored 205 runs while batting first. Despite this, Punjab easily achieved this target. This time Punjab batted first and scored 209 runs, but due to some good bowling and some poor batting, Punjab saved the target without any trouble.
Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first and Punjab opener Jonny Bairstow forced him to regret this decision in the second over itself. Bairstow scored 22 runs in Josh Hazlewood’s over, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. After this, Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan also beat Mohammad Siraj and made a half-century partnership in just 4 overs. Punjab made a thumping start of 83 runs in the powerplay for the loss of 1 wicket. This included Bairstow’s 21-ball fifty.
However, between the seventh over and the 11th over, Punjab scored only 25 runs and lost 2 wickets including Bairstow. It seemed that Bangalore would be able to make a comeback, but Liam Livingston, who was batting brilliantly, did not allow this to happen. Another English batsman from Punjab batted vigorously and scored his fourth half-century in the season. Livingston also targeted Hazlewood and took 24 runs including 2 fours, 2 sixes in the 19th over. He got out in the last over. Harshal Patel (4/34) and Wanindu Hasaranga (2/15) bowled well for Bangalore in the middle of this fireworks.
