New Delhi: The team of Royal Challengers Bangalore seems to be facing a big setback before IPL-2023. Middle order batsman Rajat Patidar, who played a key role in taking the team to the playoffs last season, may be out of the first few matches of the IPL. Rajat is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He has an ankle injury. He is expected to be ruled out of the first half of the IPL. The website ESPNcricinfo has given this information in its report.
According to the website’s report, Patidar has been asked to take rest for three weeks. After this, he will have an MRI and then after that a decision will be taken on his participation in the IPL. Rajat suffered this injury before joining the RCB camp. He will need clearance from the NCA before joining the franchise.
Scored a century last year
Rajat is the batsman who scored a century in the playoffs last year and with this he became the fastest Indian to score a century in an IPL Eliminator. He scored a century in 49 balls against Lucknow Supergiants. With this, he was the first uncapped Indian to score a century in the IPL playoffs. If Rajat is out then it will be a big blow for Bangalore as it will affect his planning. It was because of Rajat playing at number-3 that Kohli had opened in some matches last season and this also strengthened the team. Now it has to be seen how Bangalore gets rid of this problem.
