Rupee reaches new record low against dollar, sell-off in the stock market, Sensex slips 100 points

Today, there was a sharp decline in the global currency against the US dollar, due to which selling dominated the market in the second half. Today the rupee closed at a record low of 79.35 against the dollar.

Today the rupee closed at a record low of 79.38 against the dollar. The euro has hit a 20-year low against the dollar. The dollar index reached a record 105.89 level.

Today, 11 stocks in the top-30 of the Sensex closed with a rise and 19 shares fell. Shares of PowerGrid, Bajaj Financial Services, Hindustan Unilever, Sun Pharma, Reliance Tata Steel and Bajaj Finance rose. ITC, Wipro, Axis Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were the biggest losers. Stocks like ITC, Infosys and TCS acted to increase the sell-off. On the other hand, stocks like Reliance, ICICI Bank supported the market.
