The company announced the launch of the new ISOCELL HP3 sensor through its newsroom. It is claimed to be the industry’s first mobile sensor with the smallest 0.56-micron pixels. The ISOCELL HP3 is said to have 12 percent smaller pixel size compared to the old 0.64-micron pixels. This camera module brings in 200 million pixels in 1/1.4 optical format with about 20 percent reduction in surface area. With this, smartphone companies will be able to keep their phones slim.
Along with Super QPD auto-focusing capability, all pixels in the ISOCELL HP3 sensor are equipped with auto-focusing capability. According to Samsung, Super QPD uses a single lens on 4-adjacent pixels to detect face difference in both horizontal and vertical directions. It provides better auto focusing for the users. As mentioned, the sensor allows users to capture 4K videos in 8K at 30fps or at 120fps with minimal loss in the viewing area.
Samsung has packed Tetra2pixel technology on the ISOCELL HP3 sensor that allows it to capture better photos in low light conditions in the form of a 50-megapixel sensor of 1.12-micron pixels or 2.24-micron pixel size, or a 12.5-megapixel pixel sensor.
The ISOCELL HP3 sensor has a smart-ISO Pro mechanism that helps in capturing more vivid HDR photos. It offers triple ISO modes – Low, Mid and High – to widen the dynamic range of the sensor. This technology can allow photos to be shown in more than 4 trillion colors. The sensor can also switch between Smart-ISO Pro and Staggered HDR. Apart from this, Samsung has also confirmed that samples of its ISOCELL HP3 sensor are currently available. Mass production for the new sensor will come later this year.<!–
