Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Wednesday said that teachers of government and private schools will be vaccinated against COVID-19 so that schools can be reopened without any infection from the faculty. Dr K Sudhakar said in a tweet that the state government wants to reopen the schools as soon as possible. The minister said, ‘Keeping in mind the future of the children, the corona vaccine will be given on priority basis to the teachers and non-teaching staff of all government, aided and unaided private schools in the state for the early reopening of schools. “
Schools were closed this academic year in view of the COVID-19 scare, though online classes were going on. As health experts have expressed the possibility of children getting infected if a third wave of COVID-19 occurs. The government intensified the vaccination of adults to ensure that they do not transmit the infection to the young. Currently, there is no vaccine for people under the age of 18.
