Sheikh Rasheed: Sheikh Rasheed, the vice-captain of the Indian Under-19 team, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday in Andhra Pradesh. Sheikh Rasheed played an important role in getting India to victory for the fifth time in the Under-19 Asia Cup and Under-19 World Cup. Sheikh Rasheed, the vice-captain of the Under-19 Indian cricket team, has been assured of a job in the Andhra Pradesh Police Department.

Received a reward of Rs 10 lakh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday congratulated Under-19 vice-captain Sheikh Rasheed for playing a key role in helping India win the U-19 Asia Cup and U-19 World Cup for the fifth time. Simultaneously, the Chief Minister promised Rasheed a house in Guntur and a job as a sub-inspector. The Chief Minister also gave a reward of Rs 10 lakh to Sheikh Rasheed.

Sheikh Rasheed met Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office, where he was handed over a check of Rs 10 lakh. Hailing from Guntur district, Rashid has been a key member of the Under-19 team, which won the Asia Cup earlier. Sports Minister M Srinivasa Rao, Home Minister M Sucharitha, officials of Andhra Cricket Association and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh were also present on the occasion.

Sheikh Rasheed and Yash Dhul are close friends

under-19 After winning the World Cup title, when there was a virtual press conference, then the captain of the Under-19 team Yash Dhul told how deep his friendship is with Sheikh Rashid. Dhul said,

“Sheikh Rashid is my special friend, we have dinner together everyday. When we were batting in the final, the only thing that happened between us was to take the match till the end and then finish the match 5-7 overs first. However, we got out.”

Rashid kept giving suggestions on the field

A sample of Sheikh Rasheed’s talent was seen in the semi-finals of the Under-19 World. He scored a brilliant 94 against Australia in Antigua. India made a big score of 290 with the help of his innings and captain Yash Dhull’s century. And finally, winning by 96 runs, made it to the final for the fourth time in a row. Further Dhul said,

“Nishant Sindhu batted well. In the field, Rashid kept giving me suggestions. This took the pressure off me and I could play freely. Not only this, it also gave me confidence that I am taking the right decisions.
