The Lankan team had a good start and the team performed well with the help of brilliant half-centuries from openers Avishka Fernando (50) and Charith Aslanka (65).The second match of the three ODI series was played in Colombo today.
The entire Sri Lankan team could only score 275 runs in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Indian batsmen chased this target in an explosive manner. But, the team lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite this, the Indian players ensured the victory of the team by presenting the view of excellent batting.
Shikhar Dhawan praised the pitch
. All-rounder Deepak Chahar’s belligerent innings was the highlight of today’s match.. After the match, the captain praised the team and said,Captain Shikhar Dhawan may have failed to play a big innings today, but the team is performing well under his leadership.
“I thought today’s wicket was much better than the previous match and we managed to restrict them to a good score. The way the bowlers adjusted their line and length was really great. We were confident of chasing the target, but we didn’t start well.
It was a good lesson for the team. We are going to learn a lot as a team and learn how to handle games like these. Unfortunately Manish Pandey got out, it was a matter of bad luck. It was amazing to see Chahar and Bhuvi.”
Not using Sri Lanka’s leg-spinner has benefited: Shikhar Dhawan
The Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan has taken a 2-0 lead in the series with Sri Lanka.. After the match, captain Dhawan also praised Sri Lanka’s playing strategy. They said,
“I would also like to mention Krunal Pandya. Everyone presented a great game. The chances were slim, but we knew he was batting well in the nets. His understanding and calculations are amazing. The legspinner was not picked up by the Lankan team in the last four overs as Krunal was fatal at that time.
I felt that the way Sri Lanka planned their innings, batting and bowling was admirable so they brought the spinners early and the way they fielded was good to watch and learn from. He worked very hard but glad we managed to win. Every game whether we win or lose, it is like a lesson.
Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar won everyone’s heart
India took a 2-0 lead in the three-match series after registering a 3-wicket win in the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka. Chasing 276 runs in the match, the Indian batsmen started with a destructive batting line-up. But, the openers(13) and Shikhar Dhawan (29) could not do much and the team’s score at one point was 116 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.6 overs.
After this, the Indian three won the almost lost match in a very impressive manner, thanks to a brilliant 53 from middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and a belligerent unbeaten 69 from Deepak Chahar. In the match, Krunal Pandya scored 35 and Manish Pandey played very important innings of 37 runs. Deepak Chahar was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant all-rounder performance.
