The matches of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be played in this stadium in January next year. The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar has a capacity of 15,000 spectators but during the World Cup, the Birsa Munda Stadium will see 20,000 spectators to support the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Indian team. The construction work of the stadium on the outskirts of Rourkela city was started in June last year. The cost of construction of this stadium is Rs 200 crore.
