“I am really proud of the way our boys played today. He fought hard for victory. It was really a struggle game, all the credit goes to the Indian players, especially Deepak, who took the game away from us. I think we got off to a really good start today.
We lost wickets in the middle of the match. I think the thing we should not do in the next match is to give them easy wickets. We should bat well till the last powerplay. I didn’t bowl for a long time because there were a lot of bowlers in the team, but I did make a try today.”
Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar won everyone’s heart
In the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka, the Indian team won by 3 wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 276 runs in the match, the Indian batsmen started with a destructive batting line-up. But, the openers(13) and Shikhar Dhawan (29) could not do much and the team’s score at one point was 116 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.6 overs.
After this, the Indian three won the almost lost match in a very impressive manner, thanks to a brilliant 53 from middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and a belligerent unbeaten 69 from Deepak Chahar. In the match, Krunal Pandya scored 35 and Manish Pandey played very important innings of 37 runs. Deepak Chahar was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant all-rounder performance.
