The Higher Education Department of Odisha has announced a summer vacation for higher educational institutions from May 5 to 31 in the state. Institutions will not take any kind of online classes during this period. Universities and colleges have been asked not to conduct any online or practical examinations, including viva-voice and interviews, during the holiday. However, pre-determined Viva-Voice and PhD and other research scholars’ interviews during this period will be conducted according to the time table.
The state said in a notification that “all higher educational institutions under the administrative control of the Department of Higher Education will have a summer vacation from May 5 to May 31.”
In view of the increasing COVID-19 cases in the state, Odisha first closed its schools and colleges on 19 April. The state government has also postponed the board exams of class 10 and class 12 and students of class 9 and class 11 will be promoted to the next classes without examinations.
The Education Department will review the situation and announce the decision on class 12 exams in the first week of June, 2021.
