Sunil Gavaskar predicted on Virat Kohli’s ODI captaincy

Indian team captain Virat Kohli (Virat Kohli) surprised the fans with one of his sudden announcements on Thursday. Now Sunil Gavaskar’s statement is making people more surprised. The T20 World Cup 2021 is near and before that the announcement of the current captain is giving many indications. After this World Cup, he has announced to leave the hosting of the Indian T20 team. He has told the workload the reason behind taking such a decision.

Former captain gave such a statement after Kohli left the host

If Virat Kohli is to be believed, he has been captaining all three formats continuously for the last 5 to 6 years. Due to which the workload on them increased more. That’s why he took such a decision. But, the former captain and current commentator of Team India sees some other reason for leaving Virat’s captaincy. He says that perhaps the BCCI and selectors are not satisfied with Kohli’s T20 and ODI captaincy. This is the reason why he has decided to quit the captaincy from the same format.

According to media reports about this, Sunil Gavaskar has said in his statement that,

‘I read Virat Kohli’s letter. Virat Kohli has decided to step down from T20 captaincy after much discussion with Ravi Shastri, Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly and selectors. For the last 6 months, there is a lot of talk on his T20 and ODI captaincy. Perhaps Virat Kohli had realized that the BCCI and selectors were not satisfied with his ODI and T20 captaincy. This could be a big reason why he left the T20 captaincy.

Virat’s ODI captaincy also loomed in trouble?

Talking further in this regard, Sunil Gavaskar has also indicated that Virat Kohli’s ODI captaincy is also under threat. Regarding this he said,

Virat Kohli wrote that he wants to continue the captaincy of ODIs and Tests. But, now the selectors will decide on his ODI captaincy. There is no question on his Test captaincy. We should see whether there will be a change in ODI captaincy or not.

Why is the disappointment of selectors growing towards Virat Kohli?

Apart from the statement of Sunil Gavaskar, if we record Virat as captain, then he has done tremendous performance. Be it bilateral series or win percentage, he will appear at the top of every list. But, the drawback is that, he has not been able to win a single ICC tournament. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Team India could not win it even after reaching the Champions Trophy in the year 2017, the World Cup in 2019 and the World Test Championship in 2021. Now if he fails in the T20 World Cup 2021 also, then questions will definitely arise on the ODI captaincy.
