Supernovas vs Velocity Women’s T20 Challenge: Supernovas played the first match of the tournament a day earlier and registered a big win over Trailblazers.

Velocity easily defeated Supernovas in the second match of the Women’s T20 Challenge. In this match played on Tuesday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association ground in Pune, Velocity won by 7 wickets, achieving the record target of 151 runs. Shefali Verma and Laura Woolfart’s tremendous half-centuries from Velocity overshadowed the innings of Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur and the team achieved the target in the 19th over with 10 balls to spare. Velocity and Supernovas have 2-2 points after this match. Only Trailblazers have not opened their account yet. Smriti Mandhana’s team will take on Velocity in their next match, after which the two teams reaching the final will be known.

On Tuesday 24 May, about 16-17 hours before this match, the Supernovas played the first match of this season, in which the team defeated the Trailblazers by a big margin. However, the team’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur took over the team this time too and played a brilliant innings to reach a strong score of 150 runs. In response, Velocity won in the 19th over on the basis of half-centuries from opener Shefali Verma (51) and Laura Woolfart (51 not out).

After this, the pair of Woolfart and Deepti gave the team victory by making an unbroken partnership of 71 runs. Woolfart hit a six with seven fours in an unbeaten innings of 35 balls. At the same time, for the team captaining in this tournament for the first time, Captain Deepti Sharma contributed 24 not out in 25 balls. Only Diandra Dottin (2/21) could achieve success for Supernovas.

Earlier, the openers of Supernovas failed to give a bang like the first match. Priya Punia (4), Deandra Dottin (6) and Harleen Deol (7) could not continue the good form of the previous match in this match. The team had lost all three wickets for only 18 runs, out of which two were struck by England’s pacer Kate Cross. In such a situation, the responsibility came again on Captain Harmanpreet and he did not disappoint.
