Supreme Court upholds HC order to reduce reservation for SC candidates in Manipur University. The Supreme Court has maintained that the impugned judgment has been upheld in support of the view taken by the judge.
Manipur High Court to reduce reservation in admission from 15% to 2% for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and from 7.5% to 31% for STs in terms of amendments to the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006. The decision was upheld by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has maintained that the impugned judgment has been upheld, supporting the view taken by the Single Judge. 2% for SC candidates, 31% for ST candidates and 17% for OBC candidates, the university has to follow the reservation norms.
