Rushlane’s accordingAnand Kulkarni, VP-Product Line & Operations, TPEM has revealed that Tata Motors is looking at autonomous driving. They say that the architecture is fully capable of autonomous technology at Level 3 or above. He further added that fully autonomous driving is also possible for this platform, but there is a need for substantial demand in the global market.
When it comes to delivering large and advanced levels of autonomous driving, Tesla’s name comes first. The company has been providing a very advanced level of autonomous driving system in all its electric vehicles for a long time. The autonomous driving system drives the electric vehicle itself through a very complex algorithm. However, it requires a driver.
The Avinya concept is based on a full EV platform, which can make cars between 4.1 meters and 4.5 meters in length. The company says that the platform is capable of adapting to a wide range of body styles as well as a wide range of drivetrains. Models based on this platform can be front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. According to Kulkarni, it is important that this architecture meets all the safety norms for autonomous driving. The platform will be equipped with state-of-the-art connectivity features which will play a key role in autonomous technology.
The company has already confirmed that it plans to launch ten new electric cars by 2026. The report says that the larger EV based on the Avinya concept will be able to deliver a range of 500 km on a single charge, which should be a real world limit of around 370 km.<!–
