Offer to play 5 T20Is instead of 3
After the cancellation of the last match between Team India and England in Manchester, a statement came from the BCCI that it is in talks with the ECB to get this match done next year. Now the Secretary of the Board, Jay Shah has told that on the tour of England next year, heHas been offered to play 5 T20I matches instead of 3. Shah said on Monday,
“It is true that when we tour England next July, we have offered to play two additional T20 matches against England. Our team will play five T20 matches instead of three T20s. There is also an offer that you can optionally play the 5th Test match. Now it is entirely up to them (ECB) to choose one of the proposals.
Matches will be held only when ECB does not demand walkover
When it was cancelled, Team India was ahead 2-1 in the series. But due to Kovid cases, Indian players refused to play the match. After this, England is considering itself as the winner of the Manchester Test. Whereas India is looking to organize the last Test later.
Jay Shah also said that he was not aware of reports of the ECB knocking on the doors of the ICC’s Disputes Resolution Committee (DRC). Shah made it clear that additional matches will be played only if England does not make any demands like walkovers.
