Difficult records in the world of cricket include taking 10 wickets in an innings. This feat was first done by England off-spinner Jim Laker in international cricket. Today i.e. on 9th February is the birthday of this historical player. (ICC Twitter)
When Laker did this feat on the grounds of Old Trafford in 1956, he came into the limelight. Although very few people know that this star player has done the feat of taking 10 wickets in an innings not once but twice. (ICC Twitter)
Before the Test series in 1956, while playing for Surrey, Laker also did a difficult feat of taking 10 wickets in an innings in a tour match against Australia. However, he could take only two wickets in the second innings of the match. Surrey defeated Australia on the basis of his bowling. (ICC Twitter)
After this, in the fourth match of the Ashes series at Old Trafford, he took a total of 19 wickets by taking 90. He took 10 wickets in the first innings and nine wickets in the second innings. This is the bowler’s best performance in a match in Test as well as in first class cricket. (ICC Twitter)
