Gujarat won the toss of this match at the Brabourne Stadium and decided to bowl first. Mumbai had made only one change in their playing XI for this match. Veteran leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin was brought in in place of young spinner Hrithik Shokeen. When Rohit was asked about this, he openly said that it is a strategic change looking at the match. That is, Mumbai had prepared a plan for Gujarat keeping Ashwin in mind. (Photo: BCCI)

However, Mumbai's plan took a long time to come to fruition as both Gujarat openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill, thrashed the bowlers for the first 12 overs and added 106 runs as both the batsmen completed their half-centuries. (Photo: BCCI)

Then in the 13th over, Ashwin came to bowl, which was his last over and it was here that he turned the game. Ashwin dismissed Gill on the very first ball of the over. After this, only 5 runs were spent in the next 4 balls and he also took the wicket of Saha on the last ball. That is, both the set batsmen back to the pavilion. It played an important role in the return of Mumbai. Ashwin conceded just 24 runs in his 4 overs and took two match-turning wickets. (Photo: BCCI)
