Because the West Indies team could not perform well in the T20 World Cup 2021. Recently, against Pakistan (Pakistan vs West Indies), the team also got a crushing 0-3 defeat. Due to which (CWI) had to take this bold step.

The selectors came under the target of West Indies Cricket Board

A lot of questions were raised on the team that was selected in the T20 World Cup. West Indies The team was able to win only one match in the Super-12 round in the T20 World Cup 2021. West Indies’ T20 World Cup was a very mediocre performance. Due to which Cricket West Indies (CWI) has dismissed the entire selection committee including Chief Selector Roger Harper.

The West Indies team won 5 out of 16 Tests during Roger Harper’s tenure. Apart from this, won 11 in 21 ODIs and 14 out of 39 T20 Internationals. Harper’s tenure was ending on 31 December. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has decided not to extend his tenure.

Harper became chief selector at the end of 2019. Recently, the team was defeated 0-3 in the three-match T20 series against Pakistan (Pakistan vs West Indies). After which the leave of the selectors was believed to be fixed.

Coach and captain will be selected

Cricket West Indies said that at present an interim selection panel has been set up, which includes head coach Phil Simmons as well as the captain. CWI Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams will oversee the process.

Coach Phil Simmons has been given additional charge. Along with Simmons, the responsibility of selection will also be on the captain. The Test captain is Craig Brathwaite, while the limited overs are commanded by Kieron Pollard.
