Toyota Recalls 2,700 Electric Cars, Huge Problems In Vehicles

Toyota is recalling 2,700 bZ4X crossover vehicles globally for wheel bolts. This is a big blow to the Japanese automaker’s dream of rolling out electric cars. The company said in a statement that “until a solution is available, no one should use these vehicles.” According to Toyota, due to the latest recall, about 2,200 of the vehicles were inside Europe, 270 for North America, 112 for Japan and the remaining 60 for Asia. These were produced between March and June. The bZ4X, which went on sale about two months ago, is the main model of Toyota’s plan to strengthen its electric lineup.

Toyota plans to produce 30 EV models by 2030, selling 3.5 million electric vehicles globally that year. Toyota is also investing 2 trillion yen (about Rs 130 crore) in battery research and development to achieve such a target.

According to Toyota, “BZ” in the recalled model name as well as “Beyond Zero” in the works is for the series, which includes sports-utility vehicle pickup trucks and sports cars of all sizes.
