Two Honda Electric Scooters Teased for India Launch Expected on FY24 Swappable Battery

Honda has reportedly teased two of its electric scooters, the first of which is likely to launch in FY2024. At present, the company has not revealed the specifications of the upcoming electric scooter, but one of them will come with a fixed battery pack and the other with a swappable battery pack. Explain that Honda is planning to set up thousands of battery swapping stations across the country.

Autocar India’s According, Honda has teased two electric scooters, the first of which will reportedly come with a fixed battery and the second with a swappable battery. The company has not revealed the specifications of both these scooters at the moment, but according to the report, they will be based on a dedicated platform from Honda, which will be codenamed platform ‘E’. This new platform will underpin different models with different battery architectures and setups.

The first electric scooter to be launched between FY2023 (April 2023-March 2024) could be a ‘mid-range’ electric scooter with a fixed battery. At the moment its price cannot be estimated, but amid fierce competition in the electric scooter segment in the Indian market, Honda may try to keep its price to a minimum.

The report further suggests that Honda recently filed a patent for a fixed battery and hub motor, which could be some of the components used on the upcoming e-scooter.

At the same time, the second Honda electric scooter to be launched in India could include a swappable battery, which can be easily swapped out at one of the battery swapping points.

Honda has already announced that the company plans to set up battery-swapping stations across its over 6,000 touchpoints across the country.
