Umpire came in the way of 6 sixes, one decision spoiled the whole game, 21-year-old bowler took advantage

Hitting 6 sixes in an over in a cricket match is one of the most difficult things to do. This is the reason that this has happened only 3 times in international cricket. It is not easy even in domestic cricket or T20 league. Many times there are efforts, but no success. Often the bowler saves himself. The same thing happened in a match of IPL 2022, where there was a possibility of 6 sixes, but then the bowler somehow avoided it and it was helped by a wrong decision of the umpire. (Photo: BCCI)

This incident happened in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians. Batting first at the DY Patil Stadium on Saturday 30 April, Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler took an explosive approach after a slow start. He hit 4 consecutive sixes in the first 4 balls of young off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen in the 16th over of the innings. (Photo: BCCI)

After this attack, it seemed that 6 sixes would be hit for the first time in IPL, but it did not happen. Changing sides, Hrithik came round the wicket and bowled the fifth ball, which was very much outside the off-stump. Butler left it in the hope that it would be given wide, but the umpire did not do so. The replays clearly showed that the ball was outside the line of wide and it should have been given wide. Hrithik Shokeen took advantage of this mistake of the umpire. The 21-year-old spinner saved himself before the attack of 6 consecutive sixes and then kept the last ball on the same line, which Butler played in the air, but this time he was caught at long off. (Photo: BCCI)

It can be said that if the umpire had given that ball wide, then Hrithik would have come under more pressure and there could have been a possibility of 6 sixes. However, the young bowler also made a good comeback and leveled his account in the end. Butler scored 67 runs in 52 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. (Photo: PTI)
