UP PCS Exam Pattern and Syllabus
UPPSC PCS Exam: Every year around 4 lakh students appear in the PCS exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). Through this examination, appointments are made on various important posts in the state. This post is under the control of the state government.
To become a PCS, students have to work hard. After getting success in this examination, the candidate has to work on various higher posts like SDM (SDM), DSP, ARTO, BDO, District Minority Officer, District Food Marketing Officer, Assistant Commissioner etc. get a chance. Here on the basis of the official syllabus, we will tell you how you can prepare for the PCS exam and which topics will have to be given more attention for this.
PCS Exam Pattern
First of all, let us tell you that this exam is conducted in three phases.
Prelims – Paper 2
Mains Exam – 8 Papers
Prelims- There are two papers in UPPSC Prelims. Both the papers will be of 200 marks each with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The exam will be held on the same day, and the duration of both the papers is 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 0.33% for each wrong answer. There is no negative marking for leaving the question blank.
Mains- The UPPSC Mains exam consists of eight descriptive papers. The duration of the exam for each paper will be 3 hours. The UPPSC Mains exam will be of total 1500 marks.
Interview- In the interview, your reasoning power, ability to think and understand is assessed. 100 marks are allotted for the interview.
Pay maximum attention to these topics
Read newspapers regularly For better preparation of this exam, it is most important to have a hold on General Knowledge and Current Affairs. For this, candidates have to make a habit of reading newspaper regularly. It proves to be very beneficial during the examination.
Keep focus on geography and history- For this exam, have complete knowledge about the history, geography, economy, political and social structure of the state. Many questions related to the state are asked in this exam.
NCERT Books are beneficial- According to the students and experts who crack the exam, read the basic study material NCERT, Basic Books. Also, give at least 10-12 mock tests before the exam.
