The state government has decided to give a big responsibility to the retired teacher of Uttar Pradesh. In fact, the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, including Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya UP Govt School I have decided to re-employ retired teachers. According to an order issued by Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary, Basic Education, the government plans to re-induct dedicated retired teachers who are willing to be re-employed there for collaborative supervision.

Vijay Kumar Anand, Secretary, Basic Education, said, “As mentors, these retired teachers have to make the students learn from their peers, inculcate the spirit of learning within them and make the classroom student-centric. This will improve the learning level of the students. The official claimed that the move would have several benefits, including sending them to schools facing shortage of trained teachers, including other teachers. He said that it will also promote the concept of mentoring in very low cost schools.

This will be the eligibility criteria for hiring

According to the notification, teachers below the age of 70 years will be eligible for mentoring and their tenure will be one year. Each selected teacher will go through a performance appraisal after one year before renewing their contract.

In the selection, preference will be given to those teachers who are state or national level award winners. Also, they should have at least five years of experience as Assistant Teacher or Head Teacher (Principal).

How much will be the salary and what will be the work?

The selected teachers will be given Rs 2,500 every month as mobility allowance. In addition, no additional honorarium will be given. Every selected teacher will have to do online supportive supervision of at least 30 schools through Prerna App.
