\n \n \n \n UPSC Success Story: IAS officer Smita Sabharwal secured the fourth rank in the UPSC exam in the year 2000 and became an IAS officer at the age of just 22.

The name of IAS officer Smita Sabharwal is counted among such students of the country. The success story of Smita Sabharwal is quite inspiring for the youth. Smita Sabharwal is currently posted in the Chief Minister's Office of Telangana (Telangana CMO). He has achieved this feat at the age of just 23. Smita Sabharwal was born in the year 1977 in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Smita Sabharwal's father was a colonel in the army. Col Pranab Das later moved to Hyderabad and started living. Due to the father being in the army, Smita has grown up in many cities. Completed Smita's schooling and was an ISC topper in 12th. After this he graduated in commerce stream. When Smita topped 12th, her father encouraged her to join the civil service. After graduation, Smita Sabharwal started preparing for the Civil Services Exam. Smita got a failure in the first attempt. She could not even clear the prelims exam. Smita Sabharwal did not give up and gave the exam for the second time with hard work. Smita secured the fourth rank in the UPSC exam in the year 2000 and became an IAS officer at the age of just 22. Regarding the preparation of the exam, Smita says that she used to study for six hours daily and along with that she used to take out one hour for sports activities. IAS Smita's first appointment was in Chitoor as a sub-collector. She has been the Project Director of Cuddapah Rural Development Agency, Municipal Commissioner of Warangal and Joint Collector of Kurnool. She has also been posted in places like Visakhapatnam and Karimnagar. Smita is the first woman from Telangana who has been posted in the Chief Minister's Office. She is married to IPS doctor Akun Sabarwal and they have 2 children Nanak and Bhuvish. She has done a lot of work for the upliftment of women.
