Amidst Russia’s objection, Finland and Sweden are fully prepared to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Meanwhile, now the US has also approved the NATO membership of both the countries. Voting for this was held on Wednesday in the Upper House of the US Parliament. After this approval, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that it will strengthen our defense cooperation with Finland and Sweden joining NATO and will benefit the entire transatlantic alliance.

Ned Price has said that the US Senate’s approval of Sweden and Finland for NATO membership reflects the American cooperation that our longtime partners have received. It is seen as a significant step in expanding the Western military alliance and shows US support to members in the wake of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

The ambassadors of the countries were invited by the Senate to witness the historic debate and vote to become the new members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
