A US federal appeals court on Friday approved President Joe Biden’s order requiring private employers to give their employees doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine. . This order, which mandates vaccination, will be applicable to those companies in which 100 or more employees work and about 84 million workers will be covered under its purview. Vaccination is going on fast in America and now people are being given booster doses. But there has also been hesitation among the people regarding the vaccine.
Employees who do not get their full dose of vaccine will have to wear masks and undergo weekly tests for coronavirus. There will be an exemption in this for employees working outside or only from home. A committee of the Sixth US Circuit Court of Appeals, by a vote of two to one, overturned a federal judge in a different court that had blocked the enforcement of the order nationwide. This decision of America’s ‘Occupational Safety and Health Administration’ (OSHA) was to come into effect from January 4. With the order on Friday, it is not yet clear when this decision will come into effect.
If you do not get the vaccine, you will have to lose your job
Judge Julia Smith Gibbons said in her majority decision, ‘OSHA is given a clear authority to regulate the virus. OSHA essentially has the authority to regulate infectious diseases that are not isolated to the workplace. Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge said she would ask the US Supreme Court to block the order. The judge said, “The results of the Sixth US Circuit are extremely disappointing for Arkansas, because people will now either have to get the vaccine or lose their jobs.”
Eight crore people have not got the vaccine yet
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson tweeted Friday that he believed the vaccine mandate could be stopped. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 72 percent of the US population has received at least one dose of the vaccine. However, even after the speed of vaccination is so fast, till now there are eight crore people of the country who are deprived of vaccination.
