Mumbai: Before the end of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023), a sensational record has been made. Mumbai Indians fast bowler Easy Wong has created history just before the final of the first season of the tournament. This England pacer has created panic by scoring the first hat-trick of WPL of the tournament. This young fast bowler did this amazing feat in the 13th over of the innings for Mumbai Indians playing an eliminator match against UP Warriors to reach the finals and got his name written in the record books forever.
In this eliminator match held at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai had already made its grip. He had scored 182 runs while batting first, after which he quickly dropped 4 wickets of UP. Despite this, UP stood firm in the match as its explosive batsman Kiran Navgire was washing the Mumbai bowlers fiercely.
History created in 13th over
In such a situation, Mumbai needed to stop Kiran’s storm and for this the ball was handed over to 20-year-old English pacer Wong in the 13th over. This right-arm bowler had bowled economically in 2 overs and had taken the big wicket of Alyssa Healy while giving 11 runs. On the second ball of this over, he first got Navgire caught at the boundary. After this, he bowled Simran Sheikh on Yorker.
Wong was on a hat-trick and in front of her was England teammate Sophie Ecclestone, who bats well. Wong, however, had dominated and completed the hat-trick by bowling Ecclestone as well.
