Team India captain on Thursday(Virat Kohli) has announced that he will leave the captaincy of this format after the T20 World Cup. While he will remain the captain of the ODI and Test teams. It is not seen that a captain leaves the captaincy of the T20 format only if he leaves the captaincy then he leaves the captaincy of the limited overs. So in such a situation it would not be wrong to say that captain Kohli has thrown the dice in front of the BCCI that if they want, they should remove him from the captaincy of ODI.
ODI captaincy is in danger
Virat Kohli has announced to step down as the captain of India’s T20 format. While he will remain the captain of ODIs and Tests. Kohli himself told this thing through his social media. But the question arises whether his ODI captaincy is in danger now? Actually Run Machine has taken this decision to reduce their workload, but now BCCI can also snatch ODI captaincy from him. A BCCI source said,
“Virat knows that if the team does not perform well in the T20 World Cup in the UAE, he could have been dropped as the limited overs captain. As far as limited overs captaincy is concerned, he has done well. He has eased some of the pressure on him as it looks like he was doing it on his own terms. If there is a drop in performance in T20s, it may not happen in the 50-over format.
Will Kohli be the captain in the 2023 World Cup?
Till now it is seen that when a captain leaves the captaincy of limited overs, both ODI and T20I are involved in it. But Kohli has only given up the captaincy of T20, so the question arises whether he will be seen captaining Team India in the ODI World Cup to be held in India on 2023.
In fact,If in the coming time, Virat also takes the captaincy of ODI from Kohli, then it will not be surprising. After failing to win the trophy in the T20 World Cup, Kohli may have to enter the 50-over format as a mere batsman. If this happens, he will be left only as the captain of the Test team.
There is communication problem with Kohli
There is no doubt that the vice-captain in the dressing room as well.He is considered a ‘leader’ who has learned to take along young players and has been doing so year after year with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Those who watch him closely believe that there is no flexibility in his working style. Not only this, it has come out from the players that,
“There is a communication problem with Virat Kohli. In the case of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, his room was open 24 hours a day and the player could go inside, play video games, eat food and talk about cricket if needed. There is a glimpse of Dhoni in Rohit but in a different way. He takes junior players to dinner, pats them on the back when they are depressed and is aware of the mental side of the players.”
