Kolkata: According to the current National Education Policy academic year Will there be a four-year undergraduate course instead of three? Will admission in college be done this year through the central portal? Both these issues will be clarified after discussion with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This was stated by the state education minister Bratya Bose said on Friday. The Education Minister said that he is yet to decide on both these issues. Chief Minister have to talk to. He has asked for next week’s time.
He said that the matter would be clear only after getting the green signal from the Chief Minister, as there are structural issues involved in the implementation of the two rules. According to Bratya Basu, “Admission infrastructure and central uniform portal are being looked into for the four-year post graduate course. The discussion of the last phase with the Chief Minister is pending. I will let you know when I get the green signal. ,
Following the National Education Policy, four-year undergraduate courses have already been started in many states of the country. St. Xavier’s University and Sister Nivedita University in the state have also started four-year undergraduate courses in line with the National Education Policy.

Other state government universities are also considering starting four-year undergraduate courses. The Education Department has taken the initiative. In this context, Bratya Basu said that a committee will be formed with the Vice Chancellors of various universities.
He said that the education department of the state has formed such a committee. Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University Suranjan Das has been made the chairman of this six-member committee.
He said that on the basis of the report of the committee, further action will be taken regarding the four-year course. Education Minister Bratya Basu is going to sit in the discussion of the last phase with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Apart from this, admission in colleges through a common central portal is also dependent on the Chief Minister’s green signal. According to sources, the exercise of this central portal is going on. Admission of students through this portal will be similar to counseling for joint admission.
Students can take admission in various colleges of the state by depositing money on this portal. The education department had the idea of starting this portal since last year. It’s not for lack of infrastructure. The education department is keen to launch this central portal this time. The green signal from the Chief Minister is awaited.
