The West Bengal government has also declared the results of the Higher Secondary Examination (12th) on Thursday. Rumana Sultana, a student of Kandi Raja Manindra Chandra Girls High School in Murshidabad, became the first in the state to score 499 out of 500. In the year 2019, Rumana Sultana had secured fifth position in the secondary examination. This time Rumana has secured the first position in the entire state in the Science Faculty in the Higher Secondary Examination. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has wished him all the best for success.
In Mahua Das, President of the Higher Secondary Education Council, the results were announced by holding a press conference through virtual medium. Mahua Das told that this year the result of commerce stream has been the best. The overall pass percentage of commerce is 99.8. After this, the pass percentage of Science and Arts is 99.28 percent and 97.39 percent.
97.69 percent candidates were successful in the examination
He told that a total of 8.19 lakh students had registered this year. Out of this, 97.69 percent candidates have been successful in passing the exam. A total of 7,61,583 students appeared in the 12th examination in the year 2020, out of which 6,80,057 were successful. The pass percentage of students was 90.44 percent, while the pass percentage of girl students was 90 percent. This time a total of 9013 students have secured more than 90 percent marks i.e. O grade. A total of 49370 students have secured A+ grade (80-89% marks). Apart from this, 95758 students got A grade (70-79 percent marks) and 1,65,186 students got B+ grade (60-69% marks). West Bengal Board has not released any merit list.
Equal pass percentage of students
This time the pass percentage of boys and girls has been same. According to the board, this time a total of 97.70 percent boys and the same percentage of girls have passed the class 12 examination in the state. It may be noted that the West Bengal government had canceled both the secondary (class 10) and higher secondary (class 12) examinations in view of the increasing cases of corona. Later, both the boards had announced alternative assessment criteria for their students. The board has used 40:60 formula for evaluation of class 12 students, according to which 40 percent weightage will be given to the best of the four subjects in the secondary examination held in 2019 and 60 percent weightage to the final marks of class 11 theory exam held in 2021. and are given to practicals or projects of science and arts.
