This was the controversy when Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth. While Harbhajan was a part of the Mumbai Indians captained by Sachin Tendulkar at that time, Sreesanth played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) captained by Yuvraj Singh.

This led to controversy
In the first season of IPL, Mumbai faced Punjab. Mumbai’s regular captain Sachin Tendulkar was not playing in this match. In such a situation, Harbhajan was captaining the team. The match was at Mohali Stadium. Punjab won the match by 66 runs. When both the teams were shaking hands after the match, Sreesanth said something to Harbhajan that Harbhajan got angry and slapped Sreesanth. . After this, Sreesanth was shown crying on TV. VRV Singh was silencing them.
After this incident, BCCI took strict action against Harbhajan and banned him for the whole season. Later, Sreesanth had said about this that he did not want Harbhajan to be banned and he had also said this in front of Sudhindra Nanavati, the commissioner appointed by the BCCI to investigate the matter, that he did not want Harbhajan to be banned. Harbhajan had regrets
