Apart from this, the number of injured in the drone attack is said to be more than 30. In such a situation, the question arises that what is the reason for Iran targeting Kurd people. Actually, the matter is that recently a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman died in the custody of Morality Police in Iran. Since the death of the woman, tremendous demonstrations are being seen in Iran.
Iranian Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini died on 16 September and protests broke out across the country from the very next day. In such a situation, Iran has launched a drone attack in retaliation against the demonstrations. It is worth noting here that many countries of the Middle East take action against the Kurdish people. In such a situation, the question arises, who are the Kurds after all?
Who are the Kurdish people?
Kurds are one of the original people living in the plains and mountains of Mesopotamia. This area today extends to southeastern Turkey, northeastern Syria, northern Iraq, northwestern Iran and southwestern Armenia. Kurdish people live in all these countries. The population of Kurdish people is said to be between 2.5 crore and 3.5 crore. In this way it is the fourth largest ethnic group in the Middle East.
It is said about the Kurdish people that they live very well together. Most of them are Sunni Muslims, while you will find Kurdish people following Christian, Jewish, Yazidi and Zoroastrian religions. It is believed that the Kurdish people are the largest ethnic group in the world, which does not have any country. Kurds make up 18 to 25 percent of the population in Turkey, compared to 15 to 20 percent in Iraq, 10 percent in Iran and 9 percent in Syria.
Why don’t the Kurds have a country?
After the end of the First World War and then the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, the Western countries, who became victors, made a provision in the 1920 Treaty of Sevres for the formation of the Kurdish state. Under this treaty, Kurdistan was to be created. But the Kurdish people’s hopes were dashed only three years later, when the Treaty of Lausanne, which set the borders of modern Turkey, made no provision for a Kurdish state and granted Kurds minority status in four countries—Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. limited by giving.
At the same time, for the coming 80 years, Kurds have been demanding a free country, but their demands are being crushed. However, Iraq is an autonomous Kurdistan region. In addition, Iran also has the province of Kurdistan, but it is not an autonomous region. On the other hand, the Kurds fighting in the Syrian Civil War have also captured a large part, where they have even started running the government on their own. Apart from this, similar efforts are being made in Turkey as well.
