The Test series between India and Australia will begin in Nagpur from Thursday. The role of Cheteshwar Pujara is going to be very important in this Test series. Sachin Tendulkar has also agreed to this. Sachin said that the importance of Pujara has not been recognized yet. Sachin Tendulkar said, ‘I feel that Pujara’s achievements have not been given full credit and his importance in the team has also not been given full credit.’ He said, ‘He has done a great job for the country and has a huge contribution in whatever success the Indian cricket team has achieved.’ Let us tell you that Pujara will achieve the big milestone of playing 100 Tests in the second match of this Test series.
Pujara is set to achieve the feat of 100 Tests during the second match of the series at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground in New Delhi. Pujara, who scored more than 7000 Test runs in 98 matches, is expected to trouble the Australian bowlers.
Sachin spoke big on Suryakumar as well
Batting great Sachin Tendulkar believes Test cricket is indeed a different game but said on Wednesday that Suryakumar Yadav is all set to play in the traditional format because of his skill and ability to think out of the box. Tendulkar said, ‘From playing T20 and ODIs to now making it to the Test team, Suryakumar Yadav has left an incomparable mark all over the world. Whoever keeps an eye on Suryakumar’s game, he becomes convinced of his ability and way of thinking.
He said, ‘But Test cricket is a different kind of game. Suryakumar looks fully prepared to play Test cricket. The name of a player of his caliber should be considered along with Lokesh Rahul and Shubman Gill. All three are capable players and I do not want to pass any judgment here but all three are capable of making a place in the team.
Gill’s form is fantastic!
Tendulkar, the highest run-scorer in Test cricket, did not want to get into the debate about the best playing XI but said that consistency in performance is necessary to retain his place in the team. He said, ‘I don’t want to get into team composition and all that. But if we talk about the recent times, Shubman Gill is in good form and Rahul has not been able to contribute but that is life. You go through these ups and downs. Both of them are excellent players and will have to keep scoring runs to keep their place in the team.
Talking about India’s number one batsman Virat Kohli and his return to form in limited-overs cricket, Tendulkar said it is a good sign for the team ahead of the Test series against Australia. Sachin said, ‘I really liked seeing the way Virat has played in the last few months. Virat showed a dominant game.
