Although getting a batsman out on zero is not a new or big deal in cricket, but within the last 4-5 days, 3 batsmen from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have scored such zeros, which has created a lot of buzz.

Getting a batsman out on zero is not a new or big deal in the game of cricket. Ever since this game started, every batsman has had to go through this situation many times. Nevertheless, sometimes some ‘zeros’ leave their mark and at the moment the three biggest forces of Asian cricket are facing a similar ‘zero eclipse’. (Photo: PTI and PCB)

Indian team's star batsman Suryakumar Yadav's hat-trick of 'duck' (out on zero) has created a lot of buzz. In all the three matches of the ODI series against Australia, Surya was dismissed on just one ball. (Photo: AFP)

After Surya, something similar happened with Pakistan batsman Abdullah Shafiq. In the first T20 match against Afghanistan, he was dismissed without opening the account in 2 balls. This was also his third duck in a row. Earlier last year, such a fate had happened in 2 consecutive T20 matches against New Zealand. (Photo: AFP)

The heat of this zero eclipse has now reached Sri Lanka as well, where its experienced batsman Kusal Mendis could not even open the account in the first ODI against New Zealand. Mendis did not score a hat-trick of ducks, but his dismissal on zero also gathered discussion. (Photo: AFP)

This is because, like Surya and Shafiq, Mendis did not just get out on the first or second ball, but he spent a long time at the crease and still could not score runs. This right-handed batsman played 16 balls, out of which he could not score any runs on 15 consecutive balls and returned to the pavilion on the 16th. (Photo: AFP)
